Governance

The sole religious authority of UUFF is its congregation. The congregation owns the buildings and assets, approves an annual budget, writes and amends the bylaws, sets requirements for membership, calls the minister, and otherwise governs itself free of any external religious authority. The congregation acts as the legislative body of the Fellowship at annual and special meetings.

Incorporation, Bylaws and the Board of Directors
The original Articles of Incorporation date from 1959. The current bylaws were last voted on at the 2005 annual congregational meeting. The congregation meets at least once per year in June to elect officers, the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee, to approve the budget, and to transact any other business as needed. The Board of Directors meets at least monthly to conduct the day to day business of the Fellowship. The Board appoints chairpersons of all committees; chairpersons may serve as such for a maximum of 2 consecutive years. The minister, in consultation with relevant committees, hires, evaluates and terminates all staff.

Nondiscrimination
All members, friends, visitors and staff will be treated with respect, honesty and compassion without regard to race, religious views, gender, sexual orientation, affectional preference, age, or physical or mental ability. UUFF is a Welcoming Congregation.
